Customer Rating:      Summary: Should not be sold by Amazon Comment: The subscription department is so bad and so indifferent that Amazon which wishes to be known for good service should not carry this product.I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my daughter on August 11th.It did not arrive.I called and the Amazon center was fine then it had to be turned over to the service that takes care of it and then the magazine.Not so coureous and not problem solvers.Matter still unsettled
Customer Rating:      Summary: Lots of Content, Few & Tasteful Ads Comment: This magazine is the antidote to all the ad-choked, sound-bite, cheap graphics rags out there. This is the type of magazine you curl up with and make the stressful world go away. From the informative single ingredient articles (I never knew there were so many types of salt!) to spacious printouts of recipes that leave generous space in the margins to make notes and substitutions, to breathtaking photos from around the world, this publication delivers much more than the value of its cover price -- which is why back copies are more expensive and harder to get!
Right from the beginning, the publisher, R. Tully, gives the reader a heartwarming personal take on food experiences and family living, like welcoming you over the threshold to her house. And I also love the feeling I get reading about travel adventures-- like I'm right there with the writer.
I've never had any trouble getting my copies, and I got a subscription for my mother-in-law who has also never missed getting all her issues. I feel for those who somehow fell through the cracks, but if there has to be a flaw in otherwise perfection, I think customer service is something that can be improved by just about anybody, but artistry in print to this degree is very hard to find. I keep all my issues and only let my friends borrow them to read around my house, because I'm sure I'd never get them back if they got out the door.
Customer Rating:      Summary: How do I review something I've never Gotten??? Comment: I honestly cannot post an actual review of this magazine, because I have never received a single issue. My wife and I bought this through Amazon back in July 2007, and never got a single issue. I should have listened to the reviewers who warned of this issue. Now it is over a month and a half since I started the process of trying to get my money back, and still no resolution from Amazon. This is the first time I have ever been disapointed by Amazon Customer Service. There are plenty of great Cooking/Food magazines out there... Don't waste your money on one that you might never get!
Customer Rating:      Summary: Too much effort to be worth it Comment: I was subscribed to CHOW magazine as a gift 2 years ago. CHOW was sold to intermezzo, and my subscription was converted. I was promised six issues over 12 months. It is now about a year after my subscription was converted, and I've gotten 2. I've e-mailed customer service several times, and they keep promising that the next issue is 'in publication' or 'just mailed', and they would not address my request just to return the money to the person who gave me the subscription. As for the magazine, I find it quite dissapointing, especially after CHOW. CHOW was fun and accessible, with tips for great meals on lots of budgets. Intermezzo is dull, doesn't have that many recipes, and I've yet to find something I've actually wanted to cook. (Okay, I suppose my sample size isn't that big, since I've only gotten TWO ISSUES OVER THE PAST YEAR!!!). Save your money and your time.
Customer Rating:      Summary: A most fabulous, FABULOUS Magazine Comment: Intermezzo is, without question, my very favorite magazine. I think it's the best magazine on the market; most beautiful, most interesting, and has the best recipes. Have already made several recipes from the new issue and they are phenomenal, and pretty simple too. Particularly loved the pear nectar punch which I served at my Christmas party, as well as the saffron chicken which I have already made 3 times. I used to alternate subscribing to Bon Appetit and Gourmet but have let those lapse. Have given it as a gift to several friends who love it as well. Any time I have had a change of address or customer service question, I have been pleased and astonished with the personal and prompt attention of the staff, even once the publisher heself. I think Intermezzo is a small company putting out a world class publication. I do wish it came out more often though as I would love to see more of it.
