Summary: best home & garden magazine
Comment: After subscribing to a number of home & garden magazines, I have found that only Southern Accents has that truly southern timeless style that is really inspiring. Porches with fans, crown molding galore, regal touches of gold, french antiques, etc, etc. With regard to the reviewer who claimed that this is European and not Southern... where did he/she think the style and culture of New Orleans came from???

Summary: 2007 Review
Comment: I have a subscription. I believe this mag addresses the classic elegance of Southern traditional living. The designs lean toward formal. Love the room descriptions w/ specifics such as paint color & paint company. Many resources cited in mag. Also, web link to mag for add'l ideas. I will continue subscription.

Summary: Plenty of European, Not Much Southern
Comment: Anyone who thinks this is representative of "Southern", is definitely not Southern. I found the flavor of the magazine to be strictly European. The two biggest points of contention were the number of advertisements and the coverage of overblown, ostentatious European decor. There are no real Southern influences on any of the interior pictorials shown. You can find a number of beautiful, understated Southern homes that have stayed true to their original decor- they are out there- just not in this particular magazine.

Summary: comfort and elegance
Comment: This is a lovely magazine, with lots of articles on Southern style and luxurious living. Every issue has "Accents", showing what is new and trendy and where to buy it; "Calendar", for events and exhibitions worth seeing, and "Educated Eye", with advice on what to look for to evaluate antique furniture, etc. if you are a serious collector.

There are features on beautiful gardens, art and museums, antiques and shopping, design and entertaining tips, but mostly it is about tasteful homes and the people who own them.
There is a relaxed atmosphere to what we see of these rooms and terraces, as if people really live in the environment, and not (as is sometimes seen in magazines of this type) that a decorator has gussied the place up for the photographer. It is friendly elegance, with grace and charm.
With six issues a year, good quality glossy paper, wonderful photography, and even some interesting ads (many from stores located in Dallas, Atlanta and New Orleans), this is a magazine I look forward to receiving.

Summary: the best decorating magazine!
Comment: I subscribe to all of the home and garden magazines and Southern Accents is the best, bar none. The houses featured are absolutely dreamy--the photography is gorgeous--and while the magazine doesn't offer how-to decorating ideas, there is so much inspiration. I find it to be intelligently written...which is rare in a decorating magazine. The articles on antiques are particularly informative. This magazine will appeal to anyone who is interested in beautiful, classic design--whether or not you live in the South!

Editorial Reviews:

SOUTHERN ACCENTS celebrates the best of the South. Each issue features the finest homes and gardens along with a balance of features that reflect the affluent lifestyles of its readers including architecture, antiques, entertaining, collecting and travel.
