Customer Rating: Summary: Basic Principals of the Web Comment: We are using this volume for a college course in Web Design. For beginners it is excellent, not only for the principals of putting together a page, but for all the information on various search engines that the novice may not be familiar with.
Very enlightening for someone who has experimented with blogs and web page templates, but is still confused when they've entered a new world.
The explanations are clear and concise, later it will make a much used reference.
Nash Black, author of HAINTS and WRITING AS A SMALL BUSINESS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it! Comment: You can do so much with this book. It's also inspiring and fun to read. I love it! Robin Williams rocks!
Customer Rating: Summary: great intro to designTurned the Comment: Turned the light on for me as to why my fliers, brochures and business cards were so hard to really "get." Because I'm a visual artist I hadn't thot I needed any help. How wrong I was! This book is great for beginners, it's short and sweet, and great bathroom reading!
Customer Rating: Summary: A handy beginner's reference - Simple concepts, clear explanations, and good ideas Comment: Very unintimidating, with before and after examples of how certain pieces were improved. It will change the way you look at written copy. I am a novice and it helped me learn the basics very quickly.
Customer Rating: Summary: Immediate payback with the production of a nice flyer Comment: Upon receiving the book I was surprised how thin it was. But overall I am very happy about the purchase. A thicker book might have been more complex. This has simple language, it's easy to read and easy to apply. After reading most of the book I had to create a flyer, and following the tips made the work easier and the result much better: even graphics professionals say the result is pretty good!

A lot has happened in the world of digital design since the first edition of this title was published, but one thing remains true: There is an ever-growing number of people attempting to design pages with no formal training. This book is the one place they can turn to find quick, non-intimidating, excellent design help from trusted design instructor Robin Williams. This revised classic--now in full color--includes a new section on the hot topic of Color itself. In The Non-Designer's Design Book, 3rd Edition, Robin turns her attention to the basic principles that govern good design. Readers who follow her clearly explained concepts will produce more sophisticated and professional pages immediately. Humor-infused, jargon-free prose interspersed with design exercises, quizzes, and illustrations make learning a snap--which is just what audiences have come to expect from this best-selling author.
